Overview

Using principles of adult learning, the Training Specialist will develop instructional materials and deliver training programs. The position will modify and update instructional materials in response to evaluations from learners and organizational changes. When needed, this role could be responsible for providing instructional design or delivery for other operations function.  As a result, this is a role that will interact with individuals from multiple departments, and will play a large part in helping build the Learning and Development function.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain procedures manuals for all current and new programs.
  • Design training materials for new programs/initiatives (e.g., classroom training documents and activities, Desk Drops); support training team in the development and/or maintenance of existing training materials.
  • Confers with management to gain knowledge of work situations requiring training for employees to better understand changes in policies, procedures, regulations, and technologies.
  • Develops teaching outlines and determines appropriate instructional methods to use in a variety of settings (e.g., group instruction, workshops, individual training, etc.).
  • Leads training sessions covering specified areas such as using computers and software/platforms, compliance regulations, new hire classes, refresher and/or upgrade training, and on-the-job training.
  • Selects or develops appropriate teaching aids such as training handbooks, demonstrations and practices, multimedia visual aids, job aids, and computer tutorials.
  • Measures trainee progress to evaluate effectiveness of training and determine readiness for trainee to perform in their role.

Qualifications

  • GED/High School diploma; college courses in English or Education preferred.
  • Experience designing training materials and delivering training in a corporate setting and/or call center.
  • Experience coordinating meetings, conferences and/or training programs.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to quickly develop strong working relationships with others.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
  • Proven ability to mentor others to ensure their success.
